Beckoning Authors

When you view a Geminar, you can beckon an author. What is beckoning? = asking an author to come and join that page. If the Author has marked himself/herself as busy, you would get to know that. Else, there is a good chance that the Author may come and spend time on the page.

If indeed the Author joins, there are two things that can happen

  • The Author may join the page and start chatting with whoever who happens to be there
  • OR the author may start a live audio broadcast with the audience

If the author starts a live audio broadcast, it is not critical for that person to also be present in the chat. When the broadcast starts, the audience on that page would see a “Hear!” button below the video. Also, a chat message from the system will tell the audience that the author has started speaking.

So each member of the audience can click on the Hear! button, and soon would be able to hear the live voice of the author. That is one of the major power of Geminars. No other platform has this.

Currently, audio broadcasts are free for the audience. However, the author would need to pay a tiny amount of credits per minute. Chats and beckons are to be paid for. Who pays for them would be based on how the author has configured the geminar.
